Abstract
Factors affecting the rejection and fouling patterns obsd. during sugar-beet pulp ext. ultrafiltration were examd. This material contained pectins, exhibiting a wide mol. wt. distribution and a high tendency for aggregation. A dual pattern in the variation of the obsd. rejection coeff. with permeate flux was obsd. depending on the mol. wt.: decreasing with increasing permeate flux for mol. wt. fractions >10 KD and the opposite for fractions
