Abstract
My monograph seeks to examine the role played by the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) in the transformation of Spain since the end of the Franco dictatorship. Starting by establishing the PSOE?s position within the political and theoretical developments within social democracy over recent decades, I place the party?s progress in the context of Spain?s socio-economic development whilst approaching the country?s chief political developments from the standpoint of the PSOE. The book therefore seeks to provide coverage of the PSOE itself, including its position within broader European social democracy, as well as considering Spain?s social, economic and political transformation from the death of Franco to the present.
