Abstract
International students and staff come to the UK attracted by the high reputation of its teaching and research, making UK Higher Education one of the most international in the world. The focus is increasingly on developing students with awareness of global citizenship. In this presentation we reflect on the tensions between local and global contexts encountered in our practice as international staff. We also present approaches to learning and teaching that help support the development of more globally aware higher education communities.
