Abstract

In depth post-occupancy evaluation is being undertaken on a mixed-use academic building on the University of Bath campus as part of an £8 million Technology Strategy Board (TSB) project, Building Performance Evaluation. The aim of the project is to learn lessons from a wide range of new build and refurbished buildings across the UK that can be used to inform the construction industry to enable lower carbon buildings to be delivered in the future. A focus of the project is to identify the gap between design aspirations in terms of energy use and actual energy performance in use. The project requires the buildings studied to be analysed using a variety of standard tools and techniques, in this paper the results of the Building User Studies (BUS) survey for the case study building will be presented along with findings from investigations of the design process and strategies that formed the building, as well as predicted and energy in use.
