Abstract

Consistent with studies that highlight the importance of organizational context to careers (Rodrigues & Guest, 2010), this paper draws attention to the organizational context as a source of career scripts. We develop the notion of career scripts to address two related questions: (1) how individuals experience organizational practices to structure the development of their careers within the organization, and (2) to what extend these practices present a coherent (vis-à-vis a pluralistic) career script.
