The crystal structure of the title compound, C20H16N2, has been determined at 180 (2) K in the chiral space group P4(3)2(1)2. The structure is described by a herring-bone close-packing, along the a and b directions, of layers within which intermolecular N-H...pi and C-H...pi interactions can be found.
