Abstract

Six tricyclohexyltin triorganogermyl (substituted) propionates have been synthesized and their structures characterized by IR, multinuclear magnetic resonance (H-1, C-13, Sn-119) and Mossbauer spectroscopies. Three of them have been characterized crystallographically by X-ray diffraction. The crystal structures of [(p-CH3C6H4)(3)GeCH(p-CH3C6H4)CH2COOSn(C6H11)(3)] (1) and [(C6H5)(3)GeCH(C6H5)CH(CH3)COOSn(C6H11)(3)] (3) indicate that the tin possesses a tetrahedral geometry. The crystal structure of [(p-CH3C6H4)(3)GeCH(p-CH3OC6H4)CH2COOSn(C6H11)(3)]H2O (2) shows trigonal bipyramidal geometry around the tin with water of hydration enhancing the coordination sphere of the metal.
