Abstract
Six tricyclohexyltin triorganogermyl (substituted) propionates have been synthesized and their structures characterized by IR, multinuclear magnetic resonance (H-1, C-13, Sn-119) and Mossbauer spectroscopies. Three of them have been characterized crystallographically by X-ray diffraction. The crystal structures of [(p-CH3C6H4)(3)GeCH(p-CH3C6H4)CH2COOSn(C6H11)(3)] (1) and [(C6H5)(3)GeCH(C6H5)CH(CH3)COOSn(C6H11)(3)] (3) indicate that the tin possesses a tetrahedral geometry. The crystal structure of [(p-CH3C6H4)(3)GeCH(p-CH3OC6H4)CH2COOSn(C6H11)(3)]H2O (2) shows trigonal bipyramidal geometry around the tin with water of hydration enhancing the coordination sphere of the metal. Some of these compounds demonstrated positive antibacterial, antifungal and lethality bioassays. Copyright (C) 2003 John Wiley Sons, Ltd.
