Abstract
An 8 cm length of photonic bandgap fibre was tapered in the middle to narrow the transmission windows. The tapered fibre was incorporated into a neodymium fibre laser system, in which it suppressed the strong gain peaks at 907 and 1080 nm and ensured lasing at 935 nm
