Abstract
This paper reports on questionnaire studies of 1,146 U.K. ethical investors, as well as qualitative interviews, focus groups, computer simulations and 'readings' of the financial pages of 'quality' newspapers. From this comprehensive database the 'typical' ethical investor is identified, whether they are prepared to take a loss in order to uphold their principles, and what they are hoping to achieve. The Big question is addressed: Can investing of this kind make for a better world?
